Massacre of Average is a five-chapter graphical poem-designed work, titled by some of the words from a lyric Il a modras by a famous slovenian band Siddharta. The work is done in slovenien language and named Masaker povprecja. Executor of average is Klemen Globocnik (author of idea and poems). Graphical design was done by Matic Zorman.
For Massacre of Average it could be said that it’s a nice welcome for a brand new day and its Fuck Off… all in the same moment. “I wanted a strong word, a word leaves an impression and that could fit to a darker image of a content. This is a negative side of it. But I also wanted to create something that is somehow different. Unlikeness was the starting point for me and Matic. So for me, massacre of average has dark eyes with light lustre that say: Let us kill average!”. And this is positive about it”, Klemen explains the bi-polar idea.
The background of MOF is music. “For me Il a modras is Low man' lyric from Metallica, Suicidal dream from Silverchair, Hot Dog from Limp Bizkit, Wake up from Rage Against the Machine… And I listened to that song over and over again, so it was obvious that I am going to do something about it. I picked some words that I found interesting and developed a concept of my own”, says Klemen.
Exhibition is a reflection of an ideological freedom and will probably please different tastes of art lovers, but more those who like to play more with their imagination.
“You can or you can't understand it. There is no middle way. You either perform massacre or you are creating an average”, says Matic.
Five chapters tell a story about distorted personas whose actions are sometimes unpleasant and dangerous, but they have one noble goal… to bring art on a higher level. Their mission is to save art from decay.
1. CHAPTER
Modra zibelka (Blue Cradle): prologue in the form of thoughts about totality.
2. CHAPTER
Gobe zla (Mushrooms of Evil): six main characters, who are real inedible, poisonous and deadly dangerous mushrooms attached on a male/female bodies. Klemen Globocnik intentionally chose names like Yellow Hedgehog, Pernicious Umbrella aso. “I just thought they were really funny before anything else. But in the end they fit with their given names.” Their given names (Kaos, Teror, Bizar, Obligator, Pizda, Umazana gospa) are also words from Il a modras. Each mushroom has an additional thought.
3. CHAPTER
Rafal (Burst):Rafal: authorial poems written in a teenagge period represent actions of mushrooms. Tittles are: “Stranpot”, “Naročje pozabe”, “Kapsula spak”, “Kontradikcija² = Absurd”, “Rdeči semaforji”, “Socialna osama”. They deal with searching of identity through the music. Influence of music can actually bring the emotions out of people, emotions that are related to a teenage period through your whole life.
4. CHAPTER
Krog zla (Cyrcle of evil): all six mushrooms are trapped in a clock, represent the consequences of their actions to the world. Actions are seen in the form of different states of mental irresponsibility (illusion, phantasmagoria, sleep, unconsiousness, coma, death/birth).
5. CHAPTER
Ubite kritike (Killed critiques): Executors of average and epilogue in the form of giving thanks.

“The whole idea of a title is liberating, and the more I repeat it, the more I realise how powerful it actually is.”
“During creative process we talked a lot about the form, started to build from everything that was somehow different.”
“It’s a mixture of extremes pushed as far as they can go”.
“While creating we were listening to a lot of Red hot chili peppers and John Frusciante records. I like to say that Massacre is flooded with their blood, specially Frusciante's. His music was 90 percent of our play list.”
